Our Story

Creative. Collaborative. Experiential.

The Experience Lab was formed in 2013 to meet a growing demand for corporate training that actively engages participants in the learning process. Founders Angela and Michael Sanderson-Green, and Jacob Fjord draw on their backgrounds in business, occupational therapy, training, theatre and improvisation to create programs that bring learning to life.

Since formation The Experience Lab has worked extensively throughout Australia and South East Asia, delivering training to both medium and large scale corporate entities, non government organisations, local and state government, and education and training institutes. We have an ongoing partnership with EEO Specialists and are involved in a number of programs with the Australian Institute of Management.

Our skilled facilitators and corporate actors deliver Corporate Theatre, Interactive Workshops, Simulations and RolePlay scenarios that empower participants to observe, reflect, and put into practice new skills in a safe environment. Our senior facilitators are experienced with numerous behavioural, developmental and assessment tools.

Whether you choose one of our off the shelf corporate plays or workshops, or commission something new, all of our programs are tailored to meet your organisation's specific requirements. When you work with The Experience Lab, we partner with you to create the changes you want to see in your workplace.

Michael and Angela Sanderson-Green also run our sister company, The Australian Institute for TheatreSports, working with schools to provide quality training in improvisation and life skills since 1989.

Our Difference

Light Bulb.png

At The Experience Lab we believe play is an important part of the learning process. Our skilled facilitators and corporate actors weave traditional and non-traditional training practices together, drawing on theatre based learning, improvisation, and experiential learning techniques.

We believe learning is fun, learning engages and learning inspires. When we learn, we seek to build knowledge as well as practise skills to bridge the knowing/doing gap. We need to experience what success feels like and to learn from failure in a safe, non-judgmental space. We believe the best learning occurs when it’s put into practice, in the here and now, and we reflect on our performance.

Our mantra is to ‘make others look good’. We believe in building ideas and to ‘yes, and…’ one another to explore new and different ways of doing things. We believe that people and organisations need to be agile to constantly reinvent, adapt and change and we embrace doing things differently to promote this growth.

We understand that many different people learn in many different ways and that an individual's learning often occurs in a group setting.  We believe people who show a willingness to show vulnerability or risk failure will maximise their learning. We believe people need to feel safe to learn and that is our responsibility. We believe people’s learning is enhanced with fun and laughter and that too is our responsibility.

We seek to create an environment that is inclusive, encourages contribution and fosters innovative ideas.  We value the diversity of backgrounds and experiences of our team and believe it makes the team stronger. We believe in investing in our team, to provide them with opportunities for professional development and to offer them moments to step-up and shine. We support each other, we value everyone and we are a family.
